Food-grade vs. cosmetic argan oil: what's the difference?

Food-grade argan oil is made from kernels roasted before pressing, which gives it its signature hazelnut taste. Cosmetic argan oil, by contrast, is pressed from raw kernels. Our oil is strictly culinary: ideal for seasoning, drizzling over a dish, or as the base for amlou.

How to cook with argan oil

Enjoy it raw to preserve its aromas: a drizzle over a salad, a tagine, grilled vegetables, fish, or even a bowl of yoghurt. In Morocco it is the soul of amlou, the almond-and-honey spread. Avoid cooking it at high temperatures.

Cold-pressed by the Souss cooperatives

Our argan oil comes from the women's cooperatives of the Souss region in south-west Morocco — the only place on earth where the argan tree grows. Cold-pressed and completely free of additives, it retains all its richness in vitamin E and omegas 6 and 9.

How to store argan oil

Keep your argan oil away from light and heat, with the bottle tightly sealed. For the fullest flavour, use it within 6 to 12 months of opening.

Frequently asked questions

Is culinary argan oil different from cosmetic argan oil?

Yes. Food-grade oil is pressed from roasted kernels (giving it a hazelnut taste) and is made for cooking; cosmetic oil is pressed from raw kernels and is intended for skin and hair.

Can you cook with argan oil?

It's best enjoyed raw, as a seasoning or a drizzle, to preserve its aromas and nutritional qualities. Avoid cooking it at high temperatures.

What are the benefits of food-grade argan oil?

It is rich in vitamin E (an antioxidant) and in unsaturated fatty acids (omegas 6 and 9), all while bringing a unique toasted-hazelnut flavour to your dishes.
